As spring time approaches the saltwater fishing is improving here in the New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach and Titusville areas. Mullet tend to be your best bet for live bait or if you want to get some nice hand picked shrimps from Kelly's Bait and Tackle in Oak Hill then these will work as well. D.O.A. plastics will work well too for redfish, seatrout and black drum. Use the 1/4 oz. shrimps in the Nite Glow or the glitter's.
The Banana River has been excellent for the big bull redfish and nice spotted gator trout on light tackle sight fishing and fly fishing. Some of the worlds best fishing is going on right now out here on the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River. Mosquito Lagoon light tackle fly fishing tends to be improving as the days go by.
The New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach fishing reports have been strong and informative. Even a few reports of cobia being caught along the near coastal waters along the east central Florida beaches. As always shrimp or crab patterns work well. A nice hand tied mullet fly will bring the big gator trout to the surface as well. Truly a world class fishing trip.
Please practice catch and release to protect the future of the fishery here in central Florida.
